What kinds of commercial ideas are eligible for the 5-Hour Energy® “101” College Commercial Contest?
All original ideas that meet the objectives outlined in the creative brief will be considered. Originality is important, so don’t just rehash some popular commercial from the past and try to pass it off as your own. Come up with something that utilizes some of the ideas outlined in the creative brief and that will grab viewer’s attention.
Who is eligible to participate in the 5-Hour Energy® “101” College Commercial Challenge?
Graduate or undergraduate students who are at least 18 years old and enrolled in a degree-seeking program at a fully accredited college, university, or institute in the U.S. (except where prohibited or restricted by law) are eligible to participate. Employees or affiliates of Living Essentials and its partners are ineligible to participate.
How do I enter the 5-Hour Energy® “101” College Commercial Contest?
You can enter by registering using the 5-Hour Energy® “101” College Commercial Contest Web site online registration form.
Step 1: Register your group on the 5-Hour Energy® “101” College Commercial Contest Web
site by February 12, 2010.
Send in two CDs of your commercial along with unofficial transcripts for each group member by
and completed release forms for all group members and individuals featured in the commercial by February 26, 2010.
Please note that if you are entering as a group, be sure to appoint a group leader to handle registration as duplicate entries will be disqualified. Be sure to register all group members. Prizes will only be awarded to group members that are registered. Prizes will be split equally among all group members.
Is there a registration fee?
No. The 5-Hour Energy® “101” College Commercial Contest is free of charge to all participants.
What are the acceptable formats for the commercial?
The acceptable commercial movie formats are wmv, .mov, MP3, or MP4.
When does the 5-Hour Energy® “101” College Commercial Contest start and end?
Registration for the competition ended February 12, 2010.
All submissions must be received no later than February 26, 2010.
The winning entry will be announced by April 15, 2010. See creative brief for more information.
Is each student/group required to have a faculty sponsor?
No. Faculty sponsors are not mandatory, but are recommended for valuable advice, guidance and support.
Can more than one student/group have the same faculty sponsor?
Yes. A faculty member may sponsor more than one student/group.
Is there a limit to the number of group members?
No. A group can consist of just one person or as many students as you want. However, there is a limit of one entry per student, so a student cannot enter individually and as a group member. Multiple entries will result in disqualification of those entries from the contest.
Who will be judging the submissions?
Up to 5 finalists will be selected by 5-Hour Energy® and its partners. The top three prize winners will then be determined by 5-Hour Energy®, its partners and fan votes submitted on the Finalists page, which will count for 10% of the final vote.
What are the judging criteria for the submissions?
As outlined in the creative brief, submissions will be judged based on: creativity and originality; relevance and theme; effectiveness of message delivery.
What happens to my submission?
You will not receive your submission back. All submissions will become the property of 5-Hour Energy®. Refer to the “Official Contest Rules” on the 5-Hour Energy® “101” College Commercial Contest Web site for more details.
Will my submission remain private? What about my proprietary ideas?
Your submission and ideas will become the property of 5-Hour Energy. Refer to the “Official Contest Rules” on the 5-Hour Energy® “101” College Commercial Contest Web site for more information. Your commercial or concepts based on your commercial may be used in future 5-Hour Energy® television advertisements and may be subject to editing.
