Talladega Race Report
Clint Bowyer Race Summary:No. 15 Toyota Camry driver Clint Bowyer finished 18th in Sunday’s Aaron’s 499 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 20th after qualifying was cancelled on Saturday due to rain and the starting lineup was set according to the NASCAR rule book. Bowyer immediately dropped to the back of the field to avoid any potential early race wrecks. As rain approached the racetrack just past the races half-way point, Bowyer raced his way through the field and into sixth position by the time rain started to fall. The race was red-flagged for three hours and 36 minutes due to rain in the area. When the race restarted with just more than 62 laps remaining, Bowyer again dropped to the rear of the field. He raced his way back into the top-five with about 10 laps remaining when he was involved in a 12 car pileup on the backstretch. The No. 15 PEAK Motor Oil Toyota received extensive damage and was forced to make several pit stops before the final green-white-checkered finish. Bowyer restarted in 18th and finished 18th in the closing laps. Bowyer and his MWR team return to action Saturday night at Darlington driving the No. 15 RK Motors Toyota.
• Started 20th and finished 18th.

• Raced his way to sixth by the time the race was delayed for rain.
• Dropped to the back following the rain delay.
• Raced into the top-five when involved in a 12 car wreck with 10 laps to go.
BOWYER: “That was not the day we were hoping for. We had a great Toyota and I thought I waited it out and put myself in position for the win, but I got caught up in the final big mess. I hate that for the PEAK folks – we really wanted to give them a great finish today. I also would have loved a chance there at the end, but this is restrictor plate racing and unfortunately this happens sometimes at the end of a plate race. We’ll be better next weekend in Darlington.”
