Chicago Race Report
Clint Bowyer Race Summary: No. 15 Toyota driver Clint Bowyer finished ninth in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Chicagoland Speedway. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver started 24th and showed he had a very fast car in the early going. Bowyer climbed to 10th by lap 109 when rain stopped the race for more than five hours. Bowyer’s car struggled in the cooler temperatures and changing track conditions once the race resumed, but it didn’t take long to overcome any issues as he continued his way to the front. He moved to 10th with 40 laps to go and passed Ryan Newman with two laps remaining to finish ninth. Bowyer returns to action Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway driving the No. 15 5-hour ENERGY Toyota. He is eighth of 13 drivers after the first of 10 races in NASCAR’s 2013 Chase for the Sprint Cup.

BOWYER: “Man, that was long, long day and night. I’m glad we got to stick around and put on a show for all the fans and everyone who stayed up late. The PEAK Antifreeze Toyota was pretty good tonight but we struggled on restarts. In the second half of the race there were a lot of restarts. But ninth place isn’t too bad. We need single-digit finishes for ten weeks so tonight was a good start. We’ll be better next week in New Hampshire. I love that place and we’ve won there before.”
